I know what it means to become the ceiling.

Before I became a coach, I spent more than twenty years leading an architecture, surveying and design practice, working on some of the UK’s flagship developments.

I know what it is to carry responsibility for a company, to guide people through difficult periods and to keep moving forward without losing yourself in the process.

I also know what it is to become the bottleneck.

I found it difficult to say no. I struggled to trust others with work that mattered. When people let me down, I quietly carried more myself. I told myself I was protecting quality. In truth, I was protecting myself.

The practice grew, and its dependence on me grew with it.

My ceiling had become the firm’s ceiling.

That recognition changed how I led. Eventually it changed the direction of my life.

Since 2010

The titles change. The industries change. The pattern rarely does.

I have coached senior leaders across a wide range of industries: founders, directors and executives navigating significant shifts in how they lead and who they are while leading. Alongside that work, I have held in-depth conversations with more than 250 leaders about what is really getting in their way.

The answer is rarely strategy, capability or resource. It is almost always the accumulated identity built from years of doing what once worked.

How I work

Not what you do differently, but who you are being while you do it.

My work is ontological. Together we surface the beliefs, assumptions and protective patterns shaping how you respond to pressure, make decisions, handle conflict and relate to the people around you. This is the structure I call the Fulfilment Engine: not a model to apply, but a way of seeing what is already running.

This is not about judging how you lead, and it is not another set of techniques. The strategies you rely on developed for good reasons, and they have almost certainly contributed to your success. The question is whether they are still capable of creating the future you want.

Coaching gives you the space to see what is currently invisible, understand the effect it is having and create new possibilities for how you lead. From there we turn insight into practical action, in the conversations, decisions and relationships that actually matter.

Who I work with

Leaders who have succeeded by every external measure and are beginning to feel the limits of it.

Progress has become heavier than it should be. Decisions still find their way back to you. You remain closer to the detail than your role requires, and greater effort is no longer producing greater impact.

I bring the perspective of someone who has led, struggled, learned and changed, together with the challenge and support of an experienced coach. My role is not to tell you who to become. It is to help you lead with greater awareness, greater choice and a stronger capacity to create what happens next.
